Second shooters :: One Image

wedding guests hit by branches on wedding bus

My couples often ask me whether they need a second shooter along for their wedding.  The answer is no, no you don’t need a second shooter, I am used to shooting weddings alone and I work hard to ensure as much as possible is covered.  However,  having a second professional photographer on the day does have its advantages; particularly if you are having a large wedding as it means we can split up and cover more of your wedding.  For example, last weekend!  Luckily I asked my second shooter for the day, Chris Thornton, if he would leave his car at the Church and hop on the open-top wedding bus with the wedding guests – just in case of any photo opportunities on the journey.  Neither of us anticipated what actually happened, let’s just say ‘never trust a SatNav in the Derbyshire Peak District’.  After driving down a narrow farm road – with guests getting a thwacking on top-deck – they met a locked farm gate.  Of course quite a number of wedding guests had followed the bus…..  I’ll save you the full series for the wedding blog post in a few weeks but this was one day that it was great that the couple had booked a second shooter package, or they’d never have gotten to see the drama unfold…
