When I met Jenny & Raf in the Summer for their engagement shoot I knew the wedding would be full of fun and laughter. They are two infectiously happy souls who obviously love and care for each other very much.
The wedding was a triumphant blend between English and Polish customs which flowed through the wedding and got all guests involved and joining in. Starting with a ceremony at the local and very beautiful St John the Baptist church in Ault Hucknall (the very church where Bess of Hardwick was baptised) we then drove up to Hardwick Hall for some photographs (thanks to the very kind members of staff who welcomed us into the gardens), followed by the reception at Jen’s parents home overlooking the Hall. The setting was exquisite amongst the beautiful gardens (Jen’s father Paul’s pride and joy) and the details all handcrafted by Jenny were superb, in a fresh green and white palate.
After the traditional presentation of bread and salt and a toast of vodka (tossing the glasses over the shoulder) it was time to kick off the reception. Lots of laughter and merriment ensued. I loved Paul’s surprise speech in Polish which gained lots of surprised faces, and the chanting Polish toast from Raf’s friends and family.
After the lovely meal served by Red Olive everyone tore up the dancefloor for the evening.
I’d like to sincerely thank Jenny and her family for making us both so very welcome in their home whilst photographing this lovely Derbyshire wedding, it was a real privilege to be a part of Jenny and Raf’s beautiful wedding day. Here are some of my favourites from the day….
